You created it somehow. If you take 100% ownership and responsibility of your situation you will take your power back from the event. In fact once we accept the idea that something "within" us created this event, we "lose" our victimhood and become powerful.
Our lives are just the results of what we have imagined or thought. That's crazy huh.
Really get that concept.
Change your thoughts and you literally change your life. Life will begin to re-arrange itself based on how you feel, imagine and think.
Think about that.
